As a geographer, and the Director of Geospatial Analytics at NDRC, here are two things I really love: democracy and maps.

But I know I’m not alone. Vice presidential candidate Tim Walz is also a big map buff.

When I saw him speak in July, the former geography teacher — and 2018 and 2022 Democracy Defender! — made it clear that he sees maps as a vehicle for policy reform:

“The end product of these maps is a more sustainable economy, a more sustainable environment, and lifting up of people’s lives in a way that they can thrive.”
“I know I’m preaching to the choir, but the choir needs to sing… This stuff works. This stuff makes a difference. The map is wonderful to look at. It’s exciting.”
— Minnesota Governor Tim Walz

I know the end product of fair maps is a more representative democracy with leaders who follow the will of the people. It’s refreshing to see national Democratic leaders like Governor Walz who believe as I do that good maps bring about social change. Period.

We’re working day in and day out to ensure fair maps across the country — and truth be told, we’d be lost without this team’s support.

Will you pitch in $30 today to power the movement for fair maps and elect fair maps champions across the country? [[link removed]]

Since 2017, the NDRC has executed a comprehensive redistricting strategy that shifts the redistricting power, creating fair districts where Democrats can compete. Our victories have been made possible by our strong community of grassroots supporters.
