I had to make a pretty difficult decision yesterday, and I need to tell you about it.

I reached out to you yesterday to let you know that we had an unexpected slowdown in fundraising during the DNC that now has us pacing behind our fundraising goals.

But yesterday, during conversations about campaign strategy with my team, it became clear to me that we urgently needed to expand our outreach to persuade undecided voters.

With less than 75 days until Election Day, I gave my team the clear, even though we are pacing behind our fundraising goals.

It wasn’t an easy decision, John, because the money wasn’t immediately in the budget.
