Mark Robinson grew up dirt-poor. He was the 9th of 10 kids, and when his dad died, his mom – with only a fifth grade education – had to find work to feed her kids and keep their family together. A friend of his mother’s told her to kick her feet up and let the government checks come in, but she wasn’t interested in a government handout. She wanted more for her kids.
Like so many other blue collar workers, Mark Robinson lost his job in a factory thanks to corporate greed. He had to pull himself up by his bootstraps not once, but twice, but thanks to his mom’s example, he went from the factory to the Lieutenant Governor’s Office.
