** 1. Delaware County accidentally releases prisoner but doesn’t discover mistake for six days ([link removed])
------------------------------------------------------------
By Todd Shepherd
Staff at the Delaware County prison accidentally released a prisoner who should have been kept behind bars earlier this month, but the county says it didn’t realize the mistake until almost six days later. Even after the mistake was discovered, the county did not issue a press release or other communication notifying the public of the error until this outlet inquired.
It’s the second accidental release in an eighteen-month period, both of which come relatively soon after the government deprivatized the facility.
Two court ([link removed]) dockets ([link removed]) show Daniel Francis Rogers, 41, was sentenced on Monday, Aug. 5 for two different cases. Rogers received a short sentence for a plea deal that originated with a DUI charge stemming from an arrest in May of 2023.
The DUI-related arrest appears to have triggered a resentencing in a separate case from 2021 in which Rogers was on probation for possession of drugs with intent to distribute.
After he was booked into the George W. Hill Correctional Facility on Tuesday, Aug. 6, he was released three days later.
Why It Matters. The county continues to travel a tumultuous road since it took over day-to-day management of the prison in early 2022 after the facility had been run for nearly three decades by private companies. It was the last privately run prison in Pennsylvania.
Since then, twelve inmates have died, according to Broad + Liberty’s research and reporting. Those deaths include one suspected murder, at least four suicides, and a “delayed homicide.”
Assaults within the prison went up ([link removed]) in the second year of government management, and newly obtained documents ([link removed]) show the prison reported its largest number of assaults for a single month, 32, in May, the last month for which data is currently available.

** 2. The Media’s Mary Poppins – Kamala Harris ([link removed])
------------------------------------------------------------
By Guy Ciarrocchi
Similar to Mary Poppins, Kamala Harris apparently just blew into town to make all our problems go away. Problems she apparently inherited, presumably created by others. She has no history, no references. But, no worries, she promises to make everything better — in 2025. She’s just magic! And, “joyful”— we’ll come back to that.
The media is welcoming this “brand new candidate” to the stage. They can’t wait to “learn” about her ideas — and to share them with us.
Time magazine’s cover story: “Her moment.” Harris didn’t agree to be interviewed for that gushing, love-story dedicated to her which is both ironic and tragic.
Why It Matters. Television ads talk about her “tough” plans to close the border — in 2025. No media questions about the millions — a population the size of Pennsylvania — that have already come over the border under her watch. As Senator Fetterman said, “they’re letting in a new Pittsburgh every month.” No “fact checks” on her ads.
Other ads talk about her pledge to “fight inflation” and increase home ownership “when elected.”
It’s as if inflation was a meteor that accidentally hit the United States. Inflation, higher utility and grocery bills, and the highest mortgage rates in five decades couldn’t possibly be caused by trillions and trillions in new spending from Harris’s tie-breaking vote in the Senate for the (fake) Inflation Reduction Act. No criticisms. No context. No shame.
One wonders if in Chicago for the Democrats’ convention, Joe and Mika will break out in song. “Oh it’s a jolly holiday with Kamala, Kamala makes your heart so light. When the day is gray and ordinary, Kamala makes the sun shine bright!”

------------------------------------------------------------
RFK Jr.’s endorsement of Trump has stirred up a whirlwind of reactions from both sides of the aisle. Right-wing media is celebrating the move as a boost for Trump, while left-leaning outlets criticize Kennedy for his unpredictable and self-serving campaign tactics. Dive into this article from Santul Nerkar ([link removed]) at The New York Times to learn how the press reacted to this latest twist in the most turbulent presidential election in recent memory.
