Hi folks,

This is Darla Underwood, Lauren’s mom. I’m writing this email from the Democratic National Convention in Chicago where I serve as a delegate for the Harris-Walz ticket.

The energy on the floor of the convention is incredible, and this level of enthusiasm is what we were all hoping for this week.

The November election is less than 11 weeks away. And in that short span of time, we have real work to do to secure Democratic victories up and down the ballot.

In the final stretch of this election, we ALL need to do our part. I’m doing mine by serving as a delegate and by volunteering for Democratic campaigns, especially Lauren’s. Could you pitch in to Lauren’s campaign to keep our momentum going here in Illinois?

First and foremost, for me, I feel tremendous pride watching my daughter, Lauren, day in and day out as she serves our community in Congress. I couldn’t be prouder of all of the amazing things Lauren has accomplished. She has stayed true to our family’s values, and she consistently stands up for working families across Illinois’s 14th District and the entire country. Seeing the joy and purpose that she finds in public service is inspiring to all of us.

We also need to elect Vice President Kamala Harris and Governor Tim Walz at the top of the ticket. Seeing tremendous diverse crowds show up for their first tour through important swing states has been remarkable, and I’m looking forward to hearing from them. Their speeches will be a highlight of the convention for me.

And last but certainly not least, we have to secure our Senate majority and win the House majority. And let’s not forget that Lauren’s campaign is a vital part of the mission to flip the House.

If we come up short this November, extremist Republicans will continue their reign of chaos in Congress. But if we win this election, Vice President Harris will have collaborative governing partners to help pass important legislation that supports working families and moves our country forward. Because we’re not going back.
