This Monday, moms, advocates, and stakeholders from our community and beyond will arrive in Joliet for the fourth annual Black Maternal Health Caucus Stakeholder Summit. As a nurse and Co-Founder and Co-Chair of the Black Maternal Health Caucus, I came to Congress determined to fight for policy solutions to end America’s maternal health crisis. Moms across our country are demanding a solution, and we have made incredible progress since the Caucus was founded. I wanted to make sure you didn’t miss this important opportunity to get involved, right here in our community!
The summit will feature Tatyana Ali, actress and Celebrity Advocate for March of Dimes; Chiquita Brooks-LaSure, Administrator, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Service; Carole Johnson, Administrator, Health Resources and Services Administration; and Charles Johnson, Founder, 4Kira4Moms, among others.
The summit will highlight recent federal progress to improve maternal health outcomes, provide trainings on how to access federal funding secured by the Caucus and other resources, spotlight opportunities to continue to advance the Momnibus Act and key maternal health legislative priorities, and help build partnerships and strategies to end the maternal health crisis in the United States. It will also include a resource fair where attendees can learn more about local services.
