donation of just $9.44, which may sound small, but these small donations add up
to more than 60 percent of our income. We literally wouldn't be here without
you. Right now, though, grassroots fundraising is slipping, and we need your

Summer is traditionally the slowest time of year for us, but we started to
fall behind back in the spring. Missing one of our goals isn't a problem, but
it's becoming a pattern that we need to break.

Daily Kos is the country's biggest independent, progressive news outlet and
activism hub. We don't have a billionaire backer that can come rescue us.
Frankly, we like it that way because it keeps us free from personal agendas and
makes us accountable to you, our readers. But the past few years have been
extremely difficult for news outlets like us. As ad revenue has declined, we've
