Dear John,
As we missed having a members meeting on the first Monday of March, we thought an informal online gathering at 7pm on May 4th would be a good opportunity for us to catch up.
We held two online events recently:
♦ A Green’s Place Is In The Lords with Green Party peer, Natalie Bennett, who took questions and spoke about her recently published PoliticsHome article.
♦ Bamboo – with videos to watch beforehand. I certainly learned a lot, especially interesting for me (my having worked in the fashion industry) was about the manufacture of fabrics made from bamboo and why some are not so environmentally friendly.
And we have two more in the pipeline:
♦ May 27th on the privatisation of the NHS where we’ll discuss GROUNDSWELL - THE GRASSROOTS BATTLE FOR THE NHS AND DEMOCRACY with its maker, John Furse who is now updating it to include the situation we find ourselves in.
This film is a moving, inspiring David and Goliath documentary about ordinary Britons challenging the free marketeers’ annexation of the NHS and 40-year dominance of our society. A unique, wide-ranging, revelatory personal journey by filmmaker John Furse on the pulse of our times.
♦ Date tbc - Entrenching the gains In light of the COVID-19 crisis, the way in which we use public space, parks, streets and roads has undergone a massive change. This online discussion will look at how we can entrench some of the progress made already to give road space to pedestrians, joggers and cyclists and to ensure that the enforced changes offer long-term benefits. With guest speakers including Caroline Russell, Green Party AM
Please sign up to Monday's online gathering via Eventbrite so we know how many are likely to join in and whom to email with the link at around 6.50pm
We now have an Instagram page - you can follow us here.
Looking forward to seeing you on Monday,
With best wishes,
