FRC's Strategy to Resist "the Resistance"

Dear John,

In the midst of summer heat, and hopefully some time with your family, I need to update you on the latest as the Left actively works to sneak harmful policies into law.

During an interview last fall, Nancy Pelosi tipped off what the agenda of the Democratic House would be if she became Speaker.

"If there is some collateral damage for some others who do not share our view[s], well, so be it," she said to an elite crowd in New York City.

It's certainly true of the Equality Act, perhaps the most anti-family, anti-faith bill ever proposed!

Our nation has civil rights laws that make it illegal to discriminate against people based on immutable characteristics like age, national origin, ethnicity, and sex. By including "sexual orientation" and "gender identity" alongside these characteristics and redefining "discrimination," this bill creates special protections and extra "rights" based on behavior and lifestyle.

My friend Star Parker, a best-selling African-American author devoted to promoting policies that uplift families in need, explains it well. "With this law, the sexual behavior [people] choose, and the sex they decide they are, will receive the same protections" as minority groups combating racism.

"A bizarre list of behaviors will become legally protected," Parker recently wrote. "I will have to start to worry that my little granddaughter will encounter a man in the restroom who has a right to be there because he thinks he is a woman."

As parents and grandparents, we will not surrender our children's safety to radical activists who believe biological boys and men belong in intimate spaces with our daughters.

FRC is leading the fight against the deceptively-named Equality Act, but we need your help!

The harms of this radical bill can hardly be overstated, as Star Parker clarified. "This is oppression dressed up in language of freedom and justice," she concluded. "We're talking about civil tyranny, not civil rights."

It disturbs me that, on May 20 when the Equality Act passed in the House, eight Republicans voted to support it alongside nearly every Democrat. Yet your voice was still heard.

Our team estimated that 30 Republican members initially supported it... then they heard from FRC.

Just before a critical Equality Act vote, FRC delivered a letter from 1,400 pastors and some of the nation's top evangelical leaders to Congress, outlining the threats this legislation poses to religious liberty and the sanctity of human life.

That same week, FRC's Communications team placed an op-ed by one of our experts in the Washington Times, titled "The Inequality of the Equality Act."

Later, on cable news, our team saw that newspaper on President Trump's desk -- containing FRC's clear explanation of the Equality Act and its harms.

Thanks to your support, FRC has the attention of many in the halls of power, including President Trump. Now we need to take the next steps!

Will you financially partner with us as we face an uphill battle to protect our children?

The House and Senate have adjourned for August, but they'll be back in early September. Approximately a dozen so-called "must-pass" bills will be moving through both chambers, with great risk of Equality Act provisions sneaking in.

FRC is leading the fight to expose these anti-family policies -- but only with your help can we resist "the resistance"!

I thank you in advance for your support, and we commit to reporting back on the results.
