John,

Something is very wrong when a Republican millionaire and
billionaire-backed lobby group and its super PAC can buy elections and
oust sitting members of Congress for the sake of protecting their own
interests.

We saw it happen this summer when AIPAC spent $25 million to successfully
defeat Justice Democrats incumbents Rep. Jamaal Bowman and Cori Bush, two
of the only Black, working-class, progressive leaders we have in Congress.

And it’s not just our progressive movement that’s at risk: as Rep. Summer
Lee pointed out, AIPAC’s assault is not just on the Squad, but on the
Democratic Party and our democracy as a whole.

[ [link removed] ]X post by Summer Lee reading, in part, “Let's start by just being
clear: when we're talking about this assault, it isn't on the Squad, it's
not on progressives—it's on democracy.”

Senator Bernie Sanders made this same point on the national stage at the
DNC this week, reminding us of the ongoing, urgent need to stop dark
money’s dangerous influence on our government and politics:

“At the very top of the to-do list is the need to get big money out of our
political process. Billionaires in both parties should not be able to buy
elections, including primary elections. For the sake of our democracy, we
must overturn the disastrous Citizens United Supreme Court decision and
move toward public funding of elections.”

From the very beginning, Justice Democrats has led the call to get
corporate dark money out of our elections and urge the Democratic Party to
reject AIPAC once and for all — and we’re keeping up that fight until we
win.

[ [link removed] ]We’re continuing to support and rebuild our bloc of diverse,
working-class, progressive leaders who are committed to putting people —
not super PACs and corporate profits — first. But we can’t do it without
grassroots support from people like you. Please, if you can, fuel our
efforts with a contribution of $5 or more today.
