“Dozens of pregnant women, some bleeding or in labor, are turned away from ERs despite federal law”
- Associated Press, 8/14/24

James,

When the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, we knew the consequences would be severe and far-reaching.

A recent Associated Press piece detailed those consequences – ones that Kristin saw firsthand in her work as an OB/GYN. Patients turned away from emergency rooms while experiencing life-threatening pregnancy complications, sometimes even multiple times. Doctors placed in impossible situations where saving a life could mean risking their medical license, or even prison time.

Those consequences are why Kristin challenged Wisconsin’s draconian, pre-Civil War ban on abortion – and won. Today, abortion is legal in Wisconsin.

But in too many states, that’s not true. Pregnant patients in terrifying circumstances are still being turned away from emergency rooms.

It’s simple: No patient in need should be left without care. But even when patients’ lives are at risk, that’s what’s happening in too many states where reproductive rights are restricted.

Reproductive health care is a basic right – and we need to work to ensure that it’s protected nationwide. Please, chip in $10 to elect Kristin Lyerly as the first pro-choice OB/GYN in Congress to help make it happen.

Thank you,

Team Kristin Lyerly
