Dear friends,
This summer has been such an eventful one for the school safety movement, and we’re excited to showcase our work! But before we do, we wanted to cover some resources as families are preparing for their children to head back to school.

We have put together a series of five questions families need to ask to ensure their children’s safety as the school year begins.
1.
Does
the
school
have
an
active
shooter
policy?
2.
Does
the
school
train
all
staff
members
for
active
shooter
scenarios?
3.
Does
the
school
have
a
single
point
of
entry
(access
control)
during
school
hours?
4.
Is
there
a
way
students
and
staff
can
report
threats?
5.
How
are
parents
notified
when
a
threat
has
been
made
to
the
school?

Summer vacation hasn’t quite ended for many students, and Stand with Parkland has a reminder regarding the safety of your children. Whether firearms have been in your family for generations or are just a recent addition, be sure to educate yourself and your entire family regarding firearm safety. Please take the time to make certain your firearms are safely stored where they are not likely to be stolen and where children cannot access them.

We hope that these resources will be helpful for you and your family to begin the school year with confidence in the safety of your schools and communities. Please help us continue to provide accessible resources by sending a contribution to Stand with Parkland today.

The Luke and Alex School Safety Act, a key part of the BSCA, is a vital step towards safer schools. We’re proud to be committed to creating safe, secure, and nurturing learning environments where every student can thrive. Together, we’re making sure that safety isn't just a promise, but a reality for every classroom. ❤️🏫
Additionally, Stand with Parkland Founders Ryan Petty, Jennifer and Tony Montalto attended the Florida School Safety Summit in Orlando, which was an incredibly successful event thanks to the staff from the Office of Safe Schools!

Earlier in July we were honored to take our message to the Capitol. We met with members of Congress and federal agencies to advocate for crucial school safety measures.

Mass violence is not a Democrat or Republican problem – it is an American problem, and no other family should have to endure the pain we’ve experienced. Please support our work with a contribution of any amount so we can continue our successful, bipartisan advocacy efforts. [[link removed]]

Although we have accomplished a lot, there is more to be done to prevent school attacks by focusing on the triad of school safety: Securing the campus, better mental health screening and support programs, and responsible firearms ownership. Most importantly, we will continue to advocate for pragmatic, bipartisan solutions to keep students and staff safe at school.
Please contribute today to help support our efforts! We have so much planned for the upcoming school year and beyond — but we need your help to make a continued impact on school safety. [[link removed]]
