John,
Today, the number of Americans who have died from COVID-19 and related complications surpassed the number who died during the Vietnam War. Over 1 million Americans have tested positive for the virus, while millions more wonder how to pay rent or their mortgage at the end of this month.
Meanwhile, Democratic House leaders extended the congressional recess into late May, despite urgent calls for alarm from Americans struggling to make ends meet.
At a time when so many Americans are struggling to address basic needs, our elected leaders should be working to meet them. Your contribution today can help us liberate Congress from bipartisan corporate rule!

Congress has enacted several stimulus packages responding to the Coronavirus pandemic. None of them, however, have included relief for renters and homeowners struggling to pay for the costs of housing.
On the one hand, congressional leaders—including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi—have called for further stimulus measures. On the other hand, they have also refused to allow Congress to convene remotely using relatively ubiquitous collaboration tools.
Nearly every business, family, and public school student has used remote collaboration tools to stay connected while sheltering in place. Congress can—and should—as well.
There's no good reason that Congress can't leverage the same technology widely used by Americans who lack its institutional resources. Can you chip in $25 today to help win a new voice for San Francisco who understands technology and how to use it?

I'm the first Democrat who Nancy Pelosi will have ever faced in a November election, and I'm grateful for the chance to offer the city I love a choice for a new voice in Washington.
Thank you for standing with me!
Yours,
Shahid
