By now you’ve probably heard that
RFK Jr. has suspended his Presidential campaign and is removing
himself from the ballot in swing states so he won’t run the risk of
“spoiling” the election for Trump.
There’s much truth to what RFK Jr.
said at his press conference today about the ways ballot access laws
are designed to maintain the deadly status-quo. Making the ballot
across the nation is hard, expensive work. And after petitioners put
their hearts and souls into the physically and even emotionally
draining work of getting the signatures needed, we can always count on
the anti-Democratic Party and their army of lawyers to sap our time
and resources on frivolous lawsuits intended to kick us off the ballot
and limit voter choice to the corrupt duopoly.
Unlike RFK Jr., this ain’t Jill and
the Green Party’s first time at the ballot access rodeo. Over the
years we’ve watched their tactics get more vicious and more desperate.
During this election cycle we’ve been subjected to multiple attempts
to remove Jill from the ballot, and we’ve even had over $300,000 of
earned matching funds delayed at the critical moment in our ballot
access efforts. We’ve had ballot access victories across the nation
without taking a penny of corporate PAC money all while the dirty Dems
have pulled out all the stops to sabotage real democracy.
But there are still several states
where we are fighting to get on the ballot. These are the final states
with millions of voters, and we are still short $30,000 of our goal to
ensure the people of Virginia, Alabama, and Rhode Island have an
anti-genocide, pro-worker, climate emergency candidate in November.
