Dear Friend,
As summer winds down, our community is celebrating several important milestones that are making Minneapolis an even better place to live and work. I'm thrilled to highlight projects and partnerships that are making a real difference in the lives of Minnesotans.
Celebrating Fire Suppression Installations
Four years ago, a devastating fire in the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood of Minneapolis tragically claimed five lives, exposing the critical lack of sprinkler systems in the city's public housing high-rises. Last week the Minneapolis Public Housing Authority announced that they have installed sprinklers in all of their high-rise buildings. I was honored to join Senator Amy Klobuchar, Senator Tina Smith, and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey and other community leaders in celebrating this life-saving upgrade. At the federal level, we worked tirelessly to secure $2 million in funding to make these vital improvements a reality. Every Minnesotan deserves to feel safe and protected in their own home. I will continue fighting to ensure that every resident of public housing has access to the critical safety measures that can mean the difference between life and death.
Visiting Hennepin Healthcare’s Whittier Clinic
I joined Senator Amy Klobuchar and Senator Tina Smith on a visit to Hennepin Healthcare's Whittier Clinic, where we saw firsthand how $4.6 million in federal funding has expanded critical healthcare services for our community. During the tour, we got an up-close look at the new spaces and state-of-the-art equipment that this investment has provided. From enhanced exam rooms to the latest emergency care technology, it's clear that these improvements are making a real difference in the lives of patients. We were grateful to witness an EMS demonstration showcasing their lifesaving skills and commitment to delivering the highest quality care. I'm proud that Hennepin Healthcare is delivering access to affordable, quality healthcare.
