Today, the City of Long Beach launched an online survey, ReopenLB <[link removed]>, to seek input from residents, workers and business owners about how to safely reopen the local economy once Governor Newsom’s order indicates it is safe to do so.

We believe we are weeks, not months away from some meaningful adjustments to our stay at home order. But the timing and scope will be directed by experts and medical professionals. We have to be prepared for a phased approach.

Our economic recovery survey gives every resident and local business an opportunity to weigh in on how to reopen the Long Beach economy in the safest way possible. We think the best ideas and most innovative ideas are going to come from the small business owners who know their business and customers.

The results will be collected and shared with the City Council, our Economic Recovery Advisory Group, and our Economic Development Department.

Residents may begin providing their input immediately by visiting www.longbeach.gov/ReopenLB <[link removed]>.

Survey responses will be collected until 5 p.m. on Monday, May 4.

ReopenLB is one of many efforts by the City to engage with the community and offset the economic impacts of COVID-19. Other actions include the establishment of the Long Beach Disaster Relief Fund; a comprehensive Economic Relief Package <[link removed]> passed by the City Council on April 14; the launch of Pacific Gateway’s Work Long Beach program <[link removed]>; and the establishment of our Economic Recovery Advisory Group <[link removed]>. The City also has established a hotline for business owners and workers, 562.570.4BIZ (4249), which is staffed from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays.
