You might’ve already heard that earlier this week, the Utah State Legislature called a rushed special session to create a constitutional amendment restricting our right to reform our government through ballot initiatives. This came after a unanimous Supreme Court decision to preserve our right to conduct ballot initiatives without undue meddling from the legislature. Ballot initiatives are a crucial tool in Utah’s system of checks and balances. The amendment passed through the legislature, despite thousands of Utahns expressing their dismay, and will be on the November ballot for voters to have the final say. This Monday, August 26th at Noon we need your help.
Stewardship Utah joins a coalition of Utahns working on a vote-no campaign making sure this massive overstep by the Utah legislature doesn’t become a reality. Please join us at the capitol to show your support for the Vote No coalition and tell the Utah Legislature that Utahns will not stand by while our constitutional right to ballot initiatives without legislative infringement is taken from us.
