We may be sleep deprived, but after this week’s Democratic National Convention we’re more fired up than ever to elect pro-worker candidates, from Harris/Walz at the top of the ticket to all the way down the ballot here in Texas.
And we’re ready to ride this momentum all the way through Labor Day to Election Day! Read on for what we’ve got in store.

One thing is clear after the DNC: Unions are the heart and soul of this campaign. Over 20 percent of delegates were union members, and multiple union leaders spoke on the main stage throughout the week, including AFL-CIO President Liz Shuler. Whether it’s making it easier to organize, reducing the cost of prescription drugs, or protecting our retirement security, working people are at the center of the Harris-Walz policy agenda. And it’s working people who will deliver a resounding victory to the most pro-union ticket in history.
The choice couldn’t be any more obvious. Trump and JD Vance may say they support workers and that Republicans are the true party of the working class, but we know the truth. Their party has spent decades union-busting, deregulating to make workplaces more dangerous, and empowering corporations to exploit workers. Just look at the records of Vance compared to our union brother Tim Walz:

Texas labor showed up and showed out all week long. We met with labor champions from across the country, including UAW President Shawn Fain and Texas legends Claude Cummings, CWA President, and Cheryl Eliano, AFGE President. It was the honor of a lifetime to represent our 240,000 members on the national stage and ensure Texas workers always have a seat at the table. See our full recap here.

Applications for the seventh cohort of Ruth Ellinger Leadership Academy fellows are now open. This is a year-long, comprehensive leadership development course for union members to train the next labor leaders of Texas. Apply by September 6th!
