Hope you're all staying cool...   Irving, TX - I hope you've been staying cool in this triple digit heat. Recently, I was happy to meet with the Federal Home Loan Bank System to discuss solutions that will empower North Texans to fulfill their dreams of homeownership. I hosted the North Texas Food Bank at our district office to discuss food insecurity facing families in our community. With inflation making it harder to afford food, I’m grateful for their work to provide millions of meals a year to North Texans. I also recently met with the MetroTex Association of Realtors, the largest realtor association in North Texas, to discuss our local housing market and challenges facing first time homebuyers. In Congress, I've been working to help North Texans achieve the dream of home ownership by introducing legislation like my Housing Supply Expansion Act and Uplifting First-Time Homebuyers Act. Later, I met with Stephanie Collins, a Texas-24 resident and co-founder of Biolaunch. I appreciated hearing about new patient-centered innovations in health care. On the Ways and Means Committee, I've been working to expand access to care, reduce costs, and support new cures. I appreciated the chance to share an update on my legislation to increase health care affordability, which was advanced by the Ways and Means Committee. It's always sad saying goodbye to our interns. Brian has interned with our office for nearly a year and has helped serve many North Texans. If you're interested in interning with our district office, you can learn more and apply by clicking here or on the photo below. I'm so happy to hear how many businesses had success finding top notch candidates at the 2024 North Texas Job Fair. Envoy Air had a great experience, obtaining more than 80 leads to fill their employment needs! Texas-24 Work of the Week The Biden-Harris Administration has deliberately obstructed justice to protect the Biden Crime Family. I’m working to end this two-tiered justice system and hold all individuals - including President Biden and Vice President Harris - accountable. Texas-24 Hometown Hero This week's Texas-24 Hometown Hero is Sandy Lauder. At 91, he credits his longevity to “staying positive and volunteering” and believes “it’s never too late to enjoy life and serve your fellow man.” Congressional Youth Advisory Council Our Congressional Youth Advisory Council is a unique leadership opportunity for high school students that allows them to learn more about the federal government and discuss public policy, while serving their community. The deadline to apply for the 2024-2025 council is September 18th at 5pm. Congressional Veteran Commendation Applications for our office’s Congressional Veteran Commendations are now open! Through this program, we honor the distinguished veterans of Texas-24 and preserve their stories for future generations of Americans. Nominate a hero today. Rep. Van Duyne in the News Watch Rep.
