Rep. Troy E. Nehls Attends Panel Discussion in Katy, Texas Greetings! I wanted to take a moment to share with you a recap on what happened last week in Texas' 22nd District and the United States House of Representatives. This Week in TX-22 Rep. Troy E. Nehls and Texas State Rep. Mike Schofield Participate in Panel Discussion with the Katy Area Chamber of Commerce This week, I participated in a panel discussion with Texas State Representative Mike Schofield, who represents District 132 which includes Katy and part of Cy-Fair in Harris County, at a Katy Area Chamber of Commerce meeting in Katy, Texas. During the meeting, I was able to discuss my work during the 118th Congress and talk about issues including public safety and education, infrastructure, and healthcare. I am hard at work fighting for the folks of the 22nd Congressional District of Texas. Thank you for having me! Rep. Troy E. Nehls Tours Celanese Corporation in Bay City, Texas This week, I had the opportunity to tour the Celanese Bay City Plant. This facility is integral to the local economy, employs over 90 people on site, and produces essential compounds that are used as a building block for many building and construction materials such as paints and adhesives. This site is also shared with Röhm and OQ Chemicals, which produce similar types of compounds that have a wide variety of applications such as coatings, aircraft glazing, and road markings. Celanese ships their products by rail, truck, and barge out of the Bay City facility, but nearly half of their product volume is shipped by barge. Ensuring that the Colorado River is properly maintained and dredged to depths that are safe to operate fully loaded barges is essential to their operations. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers plays a critical role in carrying out dredging for waterway navigation and is authorized to maintain depths in the Colorado River to allow for safe passage of tugboats and barges. In February, I sent the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers a letter outlining the urgent need for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to begin dredging after a survey was conducted, outlining 15 areas of concern. Given the continued impact dredging delays have had to these critical manufacturers in the 22nd Congressional District of Texas, I invited the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USAEC) on the tour to see firsthand the impact on their production, costs incurred and to answer questions regarding the timeline of when dredging will commence on the areas of concern in the Colorado River. The USAEC accompanied me on my tour to see firsthand the impact that dredging delays have had on the economic, safety, and navigational aspects of the site’s operation. Based on my conversation with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers throughout the tour, I remain optimistic that dredging will commence in short order. Rep. Troy E. Nehls Meets with Bay City Businesses at Bay City Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture Luncheon I had the opportunity to discuss my work in the 118th Congress and talk about the most pressing issues facing the 22nd District, and the American people, at a Bay City Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture luncheon this week. From high inflation to open borders, the Biden-Harris Administration is destroying our country. My House Republican colleagues and I are hard at work fighting against the Left's radical agenda and to reinstate the successful policies of the greatest president of my lifetime, President Donald J. Trump. It is an honor to represent TX-22 in the United States House of Representatives. Thank you to the Bay City Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture for having me.
