Dear Friend,

I hope you are enjoying the end of summer and finding time to get out on the lake. This summer, my team helped with an important casework story, and I wanted to take the time to share it with you.

Ensuring the federal government is working for you is one of my top priorities. While my office can offer help with many federal agencies, one of those is the Department of Defense (DoD).

Telegram readers might recall that in 2021 the Biden-Harris administration issued a COVID vaccine mandate for service members, federal employees and contractors, and more than 80 million Americans working in the private sector.

This is something I have been extremely critical of. I do not believe a worker should be fired over a personal health decision not to take the COVID-19 vaccine. I supported numerous pieces of legislation (click here and here) to have these mandates overturned, and the good news is that many of them were.

The bad news is that many service members who refused to take the COVID-19 vaccine received an “other than honorable discharge,” meaning they will not be entitled to their veteran's benefits. Thankfully, Congress passed legislation last year to correct their personnel files, allowing them to receive their full retirement benefits.

Unfortunately, many discharged service members are still waiting for their records to be corrected as Pentagon bureaucrats drag their feet, including many individuals in Wisconsin.

My office recently helped a U.S. Army Veteran receive a correction from the Army Discharge Review Board. The mom of the soldier wrote to my office, “We are so grateful to Tom Tiffany and his staff for all they have done for us and for the great care and compassion they have shown for our son and are confident they will continue to fight for every soldier/veteran affected by this same injustice!”

Our men and women in uniform should have never been punished for refusing the COVID-19 vaccine, and we are happy to assist in more cases. If you are still waiting for corrected records or know someone who is, please have them contact my office at 715-298-9344. This year alone, we have helped over 700 constituents with casework and returned nearly $4 million back to constituents. While we cannot promise a positive outcome, you can guarantee that we will fight for you to get one from the federal government.

Additionally, please mark your calendars. I will be hosting a telephone town hall on September 4th at 7 PM CST. You may join the call by dialing 833-946-1523 at the time of the event. More information can be found here.

Thanks for starting your weekend off with the Tiffany Telegram. We will be back in two weeks with more. I hope you have a happy Labor Day!

Sincerely,

Amnesty on the installment plan

This week, the Biden-Harris administration quietly released a new directive that would grant more than a half million illegal aliens amnesty – including some who used forged documents, have criminal records, or are currently in removal proceedings. And once again, the White House is planning to execute this legally dubious effort in part by abusing its so-called “parole” power. Independent groups have already expressed concerns about the potential for fraud in this controversial scheme – and the dangerous message it sends around the world when we reward those who break our laws. Even worse, it’s just the tip of the iceberg. One Democrat proposal would go even further, granting amnesty to as many as ten million illegal aliens – and potentially even "re-importing" some that were previously deported back into our country. I’ve long warned about the Biden-Harris administration’s refusal to enforce our immigration laws, and their rampant, improper use of “parole” to flood our country with foreigners who don’t have valid visas. It’s why I authored a bill to crack down on this dangerous practice – and why my legislation was included in a tough, House-passed border security package that the House passed last year. Unfortunately, the Senate has so far refused to take it up.

When is enough, enough?

To add to the ever-growing list of failures by Border Czar Kamala Harris – just last week Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Buffalo arrested a notorious foreign gang leader who is wanted in Peru for murdering 23 people. But for some reason, he was released into our country. This comes just after Democrats and the left-wing media repeatedly tried to walk back Kamala Harris’ title as “Border Czar”, attempting to downplay her responsibility for the worsening immigration chaos. But we know the facts. Since the Biden-Harris policies went into effect, over 10 million illegals have entered our country, 375 individuals on the terrorist watch list have been caught crossing, fentanyl continues to flood our streets, and Kamala Harris has only visited the border once. The Biden-Harris administration’s disastrous open border policies are terrorizing our communities, and it begs the question – is there any illegal alien that the current administration won’t let in? It’s time for the US Senate to pass H.R. 2, the Secure the Border Actwhich is the strongest border security bill to ever make its way through the House.

Touring an orchard

Members of my staff had a great time touring Erickson Orchards and Country Store, a third-generation family farm in Bayfield. From fresh sweet cherries, strawberries, and apples, Erickson’s does it all. According to the USDA, about 89 percent of all farms were small family farms in 2021, and we must do more to protect them. To protect family farms, I will continue to fight the Biden-Harris administration’s push for a new Death Tax. That’s why I support H.R. 7035, the Death Tax Repeal Act, to ensure family farms and small businesses do not have to pay a devastating tax upon the death of a family member. You can read more about this proposal here.

Committee Update

Judiciary

No more hidin’ for Biden

Over the past year, House Republicans have uncovered through bank records, witness testimony, whistleblower accounts, and millions of documents that President Biden knew about his family’s foreign business dealings. We have conducted this investigation in a slow, methodical way and have only followed where the facts have led us. Despite the Biden-Harris administration’s attempt to obstruct our investigation we now have proof that President Biden committed impeachable offenses. From phone calls with foreign business associates to meetings and dinners, it’s clear that Joe Biden was ‘the brand’ being sold around the world in exchange for access. Earlier this week, the House Committee on the Judiciary, the Committee on Oversight and Accountability, and the Committee on Ways and Means released our joint report on the impeachment inquiry, which details the evidence establishing President Biden abused his public office for private financial gain and violated his oaths of office by participating in an influence-peddling scheme to enrich his family. The American people deserve transparency about the President's involvement in his family’s foreign business deals. I encourage everyone to read our report – click here to see the key findings.
