(SFPOA) officially gave Mayor Breed its sole endorsement,
underscoring the Mayor's
unwavering commitment the officers who serve our city and her
unrelenting commitment to make our city safer for
everyone.
Under Mayor Breed's leadership, the
SFPD has seen transformative changes, including increased budgets to
enhance public safety needs, aggressive recruitment and retention
efforts ensuring SFPD officers have competitive starting salaries, and
the passage of critical measures such as Prop E that gives officers
the 21st century tools they need to do their job. Mayor Breed’s
administration has been at the forefront of deploying smart public
safety policies, amidst challenging times, to protect the community
and support the officers who serve our city with
dedication.
"Mayor Breed has consistently provided the
leadership needed to ensure SFPD has the funding it needs to be
effective, expanded efforts to recruit new officers and retain veteran
officers, and moved public safety policy back in the right direction
to hold criminals accountable and support crime
victims." – Tracy McCray,
President of the SFPOA
This endorsement is not only a
testament to Mayor Breed's accomplishments but also a commitment to
continue the progress we’ve made. Her endeavors to boost officer
morale, enhance community safety, and her determination to tackle
crime head-on are essential for our city's future.
As Mayor Breed stated, “The core
function of city government is to keep our residents, businesses,
workers, and visitors safe – and I will never waver in my commitment
to public safety in San Francisco, fully staffing our police
department, and giving our officers the tools they need to
succeed."
