A Message of Thanks and Love for Congressman Bill Pascrell

We were devastated to hear of Congressman Bill Pascrell’s passing on Wednesday. Congressman Kim and our entire office are sending love, strength, and our thoughts to his loved ones and the Paterson community he adored so much. We join people across all of New Jersey in grieving this tremendous loss. His dedicated leadership and service to our state will be deeply missed and forever appreciated.

NEXT WEEK: Congressman Kim to Host his 78th Town Hall in Lumberton

Congressman Kim will host his 78th town hall next Wednesday, August 28th, at 6 PM in Lumberton at Medford Leas’ Lumberton Campus, a continuing care retirement community. The conversation will address issues impacting New Jersey’s seniors and highlight the Congressman’s continued work on issues ranging from housing to healthcare. Join us to also hear Congressman Kim’s updates from his recent work in Congress and share what is on your minds!

Congressman Kim Visits Salem Nuclear Plants and Wind Port, Discusses New Jersey’s Clean Energy Leadership and Future

Last week, Congressman Kim toured the Salem and Hope Creek nuclear plants and New Jersey Wind Port to discuss the facilities’ local economic impact, job creation, and clean energy production in New Jersey. We are continuing to grow as a leader of clean energy production, bringing good-paying, climate friendly jobs and innovation to our state. Congressman Kim appreciated a close-up look at the Salem plants and wind port’s operation that’s helping put New Jersey at the center of America’s clean energy future.

We continue to prioritize more federal investments to expand safe, reliable, and renewable energy creation in our state that’s good for working families’ wallets, job growth, and our critical climate goals.

August is Black Business Month! Small businesses make our communities what they are.

As we celebrate incredible Black-owned businesses in New Jersey, we continue our work to address inequities facing minority owned businesses and expand access to critical resources and support.

Continued Mission Toward Equal Opportunity in Education

50 years ago this week, the Equal Educational Opportunities Act helped ensure schools were accessible to students of all language backgrounds. It was a critical step in our ongoing work to break down barriers to education and make classrooms inclusive and welcoming to all across our nation. We join in recognizing its landmark progress as we continue to prioritize legislation that can build off of its promise.

Don’t forget, our next webinar is coming up on August 27th at 1 PM! Join our office, Disability Rights New Jersey, and others for a webinar covering voting rights, nonpartisan voting resources, and understanding ADA regulations. We will cover:

Voting Methods: Ways to vote and overcoming voting barriers
Voting Rights and Options: For those in long-term care facilities, group homes, and for individuals with cognitive issues
Caregiver Assistance in Voting: Allowable assistance in voting booths and mail-in voting support
Understanding the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA): What are the ADA requirements and actions to take if a building is not following necessary ADA regulations

UPCOMING WEBINAR: Get to Know the Community Development Block Grant Program in Burlington and Monmouth Counties

On September 12th at 11 AM, our office will be hosting a webinar covering the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program that helps expand housing and promote economic development. The conversation will be geared toward access in Burlington and Monmouth Counties since CDBG grants are currently not available in Mercer County. Topics to be discussed include:

The application process in Burlington and Monmouth County
Who is eligible to apply
What types of projects are funded
How our office can assist
