Dear John,

Happy Friday – hope you all had a wonderful week!

This week I wanted to give you an update on what I’m doing in Congress to lower costs for Minnesotans. I know this issue is top-of-mind for so many people – especially as we’re gearing up for back-to-school season.

I’ve been working in Congress to find solutions that hold big corporations accountable for higher prices at the grocery store – that's why I wrote my Task Force to Stop Price Gouging Act, to create a federal task force to investigate corporate behavior that results in increased prices for American families. And it would help rein in wasteful government spending too – because we’ve got to cut spending when it’s not helping everyday people. I’ve been pushing House leadership to bring this commonsense bill to a vote and that’s what I’ll keep doing until we get it done.

Earlier this year, I also helped pass two bipartisan bills – the TICKET Act and the No Hidden FEES Act -- to crack down on junk fees and protect consumers.

I hear it everywhere I go in the district – costs are too high. And that’s why lowering them is such a focus of mine in Congress. As always, I’ll work with anyone – Democrats, Republicans, and the Administration – to help find solutions.

Here’s what I was up to this week:

New energy investments for Minnesota

I was happy to welcome Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack to our district to announce new federal investments in Minnesota’s renewable fuels economy that will help family farmers and lower costs at the pump.

We got to show the Secretary around Inver Grove Heights with a stop at The Corner Store, where we heard firsthand about how these incentive-based biofuels programs will benefit Minnesota farmers and small businesses.

Behind the scenes with Rep. Craig:

If you’ve been to my DC office recently – you’ve probably seen this sign hanging up behind the front desk. My Staff Assistant, Stephen, updates this sign every day with gas and commodity prices to ensure my team and I know exactly what you are paying at the pump.

If you’re in the Capitol, stop by my office to say hi and check it out!

Until next time,
