NYT reporter linked to leak of Australian Jews’ details, which led to doxing attacks

“The New York Times said Friday it had taken “appropriate action” against its reporter, after it came to light that she had leaked private details from a WhatsApp group in which some 600 Australian Jewish creatives had sought support amid surging antisemitism, causing a storm of doxing attacks.” (TIMES OF ISRAEL)

+JG Tweet: A New York Times reporter intentionally leaking PII acquired through her reporting led to widespread doxing attacks against hundreds of Australian Jews. This is appalling & has dangerous consequences. The NYT investigating itself is no solution; an independent 3rd party must investigate, assess the damage and recommend appropriate disciplinary action against the journalist.

KEY ADL SOCIAL STATEMENTS

  • We are heartbroken and share in the grief of the families of: Alexander Dancyg z”l, 76 Yoram Metzger z”l, 80 Avraham Munder z”l, 79 Yagev Buchshtab z”l, 34 Nadav Popplewell z”l, 51 Haim Perry z”l, 79 All 6 were kidnapped alive, murdered by Hamas, and their bodies recovered by the IDF last night from the tunnels of the terrorist organization in Gaza. • Anti-Zionist protestors disrupted an Agudath Israel event about antisemitism in the US. The event was certainly not about Zionism. This Orthodox Jewish group was simply targeted for being visibly Jewish. And these protestors are simply being antisemitic.
  • We welcome the DNC platform's inclusion of ADL recommendations to combat rising antisemitism, support Israel, oppose BDS, fight campus antisemitism, protect houses of worship, improve hate crime reporting & counter online hate. ADL will continue to work with policymakers across the political spectrum.
