** Big Green, Inc. feeds off fear.
------------------------------------------------------------
Just The News ([link removed]) (8/21/24) reports: "In the wake of widespread fears of climate change, an entire new field of psychotherapy has sprung up to treat what is being called 'climate anxiety.' Climate-aware therapists are specialists who treat people whose anxiety about climate change interferes with their enjoyment of life. These specialists are now available in just about every major city across the United States. The degree to which climate change will pose risks to people in the future is far from certain, and the human race is today safer from climate than it was 100 years ago. The number of deaths from climate-related natural disasters has fallen 99% since 1920. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change...has five emissions scenarios — with and without policies to mitigate them. Under every scenario, the human race is, to one degree or another, better off economically
in 100 years than it is today. Despite these facts, many people, especially young people, are experiencing serious anxiety over climate change. A 2021 Lancet survey of 10,000 people aged 16-25 years, found that 59% were very or extremely worried and 84% were at least moderately worried...Dr. Matt Wielicki, former assistant professor in the Department of Geological Sciences at the University of Alabama and publisher of 'Irrational Fear,' told Just the News that as a professor he became concerned about the narrative on climate change when he saw the distress many of his students were experiencing over what they believed about global warming. 'I think this is the first generation where they've their whole lives that the planet is on its way to ending at some point in their lifetime, civilization is going to collapse and the food supply will be destroyed,' Wielicki said."

** "The modern electric grid is an essential aspect of our modern lives. We all rely on it to turn on the lights, to keep food refrigerated, to warm us in the winter and cool us in the summer."

If only someone could have warned California about these dangers ** 10 years ago... ([link removed])

** Reuters ([link removed])
(8/22/24) reports: "A California residential solar subsidy will cost ratepayers who do not have rooftop panels about $8.5 billion annually by the end of this year, contributing to higher electricity rates for consumers, according to an analysis published on Thursday by the top U.S. solar state's ratepayer advocate. California's Public Utilities Commission in 2022 reformed a residential solar policy known as net energy metering that allowed customers with rooftop panels to be credited for excess power their systems generated at or near the full retail electricity rate...The Public Advocates Office proposed several changes to the net metering program to reduce what is known as the cost shift to customers who do not have solar."

Interesting that China is always the big winner regardless of who or where "green" policies get implemented.

(8/21/24) reports: "The European Commission announced this AM that, in its ongoing findings of an anti-subsidy investigation into Chinese imports of battery electric vehicles, all Tesla vehicles imported from China will be subject to a 9% tariff. Proposed tariffs on other EV companies were revised slightly ahead of what could become EU trade policy later this year. Of all the proposed duties on Chinese EVs imported to the EU, Tesla appears to be the big winner and will pay the lowest rate of 9%. Reuters noted the EU 'set a new reduced rate of 9% for Tesla, lower than the 20.8% it had indicated in July.'"

(8/19/24) reports: "A boom of oil production within a deep-red Midwestern state has seen house prices soar and unemployment rates drop as a surge of newcomers trigger a record high population. Officials in North Dakota once needed to entice people to the state, but interest has skyrocketed since the oil industry took off over the past decade. The once deserted area is now thriving but climbing house prices have resulted in some residents struggling to put a roof over their head...The oil boom came just a decade after the state struggled with its population, but after officials funded job fairs across the country to entice residents to move there, people quickly flocked. Presently, the Midwestern state - home to Theodore Roosevelt National Park - has a record population and the lowest unemployment rate in the US with about 20,000 unfilled jobs. With the influx of newcomers, the state has struggled to house everyone."
