Dear Friend --
Two weeks ago, I wrote about CLUE’s
critical efforts to gain shelter for detained
immigrants on the verge of
release from Adelanto and Otay Mesa since the start of the coronavirus
crisis.
I’m excited to share that
thanks to generous support from people like you, six of our immigrant
brothers and sisters have already found placement in temporary
shelters.
Now hundreds more may have an opportunity for release. Your gift
today could make the difference between continued detention and
humanitarian release.
Can you please donate $50 now to help continue the shelter search and
placement process for our brothers and sisters?
Here’s what’s happened. On Friday,
as 80 community members from CLUE gathered to demand that ICE release
all detained immigrants, a federal judge granted a class-wide preliminary
injunction demanding that
immigration release a large number of detained immigrants from
Adelanto, the federal detention facility in San Bernardino County.
But they can’t be released if
they don’t have a place to go.
You can help find shelter with your $50
donation today.
We are on the phone with
congregations across Southern California to ask for their support in
providing shelter. Many need financial support to be able to provide
food and other basic needs on an ongoing basis in order to accept our
immigrant neighbors.
Indeed there are SO many of our
immigrant neighbors in need of shelter, we may need to find
alternative housing at hotels or other locations.
Your gift now will fund outreach
and direct support to congregations opening their doors to hopeful
immigrants.
Please consider a donation of $50 once, or on a monthly
basis, today. Can we count on you?
Thank you.
In faith and
solidarity,
Michelle Seyler
Executive Director, CLUE
Justice
