Town Hall in Leon County

Congressman Sessions addresses Leon County

This Tuesday, I hosted a town hall in Jewett. It was wonderful to connect with so many of you in Leon County. I enjoyed connecting with Leon County Judge Byron Ryder, County Commissioners Foley and Workman, and the Executive Director of the Jewett Area Chamber of Commerce Kristy Vandegriff. It is always a pleasure to see our local leaders and hear from constituents. Thank you for coming out and sharing your insights and ideas. I believe that town halls and civic engagement drive the change we want to see in both our local communities and the federal level.

NWS Houston/Galveston Forecast Office

On Wednesday, I visited the NOAA’s National Weather Service Houston/Galveston Forecast Office.

Among the 7.5 million Texans that are serviced by this office are the residents of Walker, Trinity, and Houston Counties. The staff at NWS Houston consists of 23 weather professionals that work to provide forecast and warning services to make America a Weather-Ready Nation. The mission of the NWS is to provide weather, water and climate data, forecasts, warnings and Impact-based Decision Support Services for the protection of life and property and enhancement of the national economy. It was interesting to see the latest technology at work to provide weather forecasts, ensuring preparedness.

This week, I also had the opportunity to catch up with Judge Felton of McLennan County. We discussed how I can be of service to our local communities. It is important to me to maintain a close relationship with local officials throughout TX-17. I am grateful for Judge Felton’s leadership and dedication to public service.

ESOP Roundtable

Yesterday, I joined local representatives of the Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) Association in a roundtable discussion on the benefits of employee ownership.

Representatives of the ESOP Association discuss with Congressman Sessions

The ESOP Association represents the over 10 million employee-owners throughout America and advocates for companies with an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). ESOP is a retirement plan where the ownership of the company is held in trust for the benefit of the employees of the company. This means the employees don’t pay out of their wages or income but gain ownership as a result of their work. In this way, ESOP is much more than a retirement plan. I enjoyed hearing from constituents on this important topic.
