The Texas Department of Public Safety will no longer accept court orders or altered birth certificates from persons who want to change their “sex” on their driver’s licenses. The new rule sent by email became effective immediately on August 20 and information on how to change one’s “sex” on an ID or driver’s license has been removed from the DPS website. According to news reports, the DPS was directed by Governor Greg Abbott to make this change.

Mary Elizabeth Castle, Director of Government Relations for Texas Values said:

“We are grateful that our governor is directing state agencies to avoid issuing false and misleading IDs that change one’s “sex” based on thought perceived gender identity. This is a step in the right direction in making sure our government and society confirms what a woman is and protects sex-based rights that are based on biology”.

KUT News posted the letter sent to DPS staff and can be read here.

Last week, the Austin City Council voted to approve its budget for 2024-2025. This budget includes multiple disturbing amendments that do not align with Texas's pro-life and pro-family culture. For the 6th year in a row, the leftist Austin City Council has attributed funds that would ultimately fund abortion.

These types of political antics by local governments are even more reason to remain steadfast and continue working towards preserving faith, family, and freedom at the Texas legislature.

Woke, Anti-religion Activists Launch Biased Study, Want All References to Christianity Out!

Is it offensive to say that the Baptist preacher Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. was a Christian? Is it wrong to suggest that people left Britain to discover America because they wanted more religious liberty?

Well, leftist activists find problems with these references and more in the proposed instructional materials that are being reviewed by the Texas State Board of Education (SBOE). As you may have heard in our team’s testimony at the SBOE meeting in June, there is one publisher who believes that reading religious texts can help increase reading comprehension and an appreciation for many common phrases cited in literature and history.

However, the “Left” thinks that the mere mention of religion is turning the classroom into Sunday School! This is nothing new— these same activists asked for “In God We Trust” to be removed from the Social Studies TEKS back in 2021!

The SBOE will be voting on the instructional materials in September and they need to hear from supporters of religious freedom like YOU! (More details to come soon).

This week we released a breakdown of the report that has been cited in the news lately claiming that the religious references are inappropriate. Read about it here.

Special Guest U.S. Congressman Chip Roy Discusses Texas Children's Hospital Whistleblowers and What We Can Do to Fight Back!

"We’re dealing with a complete worldview difference between Democrats and Republicans right now…we’ve got a government weaponized against those of us who profess our faith, promote the values, that I still think the vast majority of Americans believe in."

"If anybody out there is observing these kinds of things…reach out to our office…we’ll work with folks like Texas Values to figure out what we can do…you have rights under whistleblower statute."

"...risk comfort in order to stand up for what is right for your kids, and grandkids….a little girl or little boy getting mutilated for some political agenda…speak up, be unafraid, if we do that I think we can win…but we’ve got to be willing to speak up." ~ US Congressman Chip Roy

His segment is available to view on our YouTube Channel. It is also available to view on our Facebook page.

KNOW YOUR RIGHTS!

With students across Texas heading back to school soon, it’s important for students and parents to know their rights. As a parent, you may be concerned with what your child will be learning in the classroom or whether you are allowed to know what is being taught.

Parents have many rights including:

  • The right to review your child’s educational records and request corrections
  • The right to protect your child’s and your family’s faith
  • The right to weigh in on school district matters
  • The right to a reasonable expectation of privacy
  • The right for you and your child to say "Merry Christmas"
  • The right to pray on public school grounds
  • The right to control sex education content for your child (school must have "opt-in" permission from parents first)
  • The right to have your child participate in sex-separated sports and athletics

Students have the right to:

  • Engage in student-led prayer;
  • Have student-led Christian clubs;
  • Hold student-led bible studies on campus;
  • Express their Christian values in class;
  • Share their faith with other students; and
  • Acknowledge Christian holidays.
