Hi John,

Today, I have the honor of witnessing the first Black woman become the official Democratic nominee at the top of the ticket. I am proud to be one of the many delegates standing behind Kamala Harris as she accepts her nomination.

To offer some historical context, segregation was not officially outlawed until 1964 — I was a young child, and our Presidential nominee Kamala Harris had just been born .

Back then, Black women could not hold a position of power — but that didn’t mean they weren’t powerful, John. Our grandmothers, mothers, aunts, and sisters all paved the way for us — stoking a fire that has brought Kamala and me to greater heights than our ancestors could have imagined.

For the past 60 years, we have not only reclaimed our power, we have ushered in an era of impermeable progress.

Now I’m representing my home district in Congress, watching history unfold as Kamala Harris redefines what it means to be President of the United States. I’m committed to making history forever, John. That starts with electing Democrats up and down the ballot — will you help me defend my seat by chipping in $ or anything you can afford today?
