Last week the Bay Area Housing Finance Authority (BAHFA) made the difficult decision to remove RM4 from the November 2024 ballot. Our coalition recommended this decision based on a series of serious and unfortunately-timed challenges lodged by a small group of anti-housing and anti-government extremists. These opponents exploited the court systems and electoral timeline in an attempt to block progress on our state and regional affordable housing agenda. These actions resulted in a painful delay to our progress – but delays should not be confused with defeat. NPH remains committed to identifying and advancing the best possible pathway to win housing solutions for our communities. |

This includes pursuing the transformative change offered by Prop 5, the statewide November ballot measure that would set a 55% voter threshold for affordable housing and public infrastructure bonds. The Yes on Prop 5 campaign is counting on Affordable Housers to help advance safe, affordable communities. We are grateful for the partnership and support of our members, partners, and allies as we continue to advance our long-term goals and best position our coalition for the future. |
