This week, we received great news — our ballot measure for the city of McAllen has qualified for the November election!
This confirms that 100% of Ground Game’s ballot measures were successful this year. It wasn’t easy — it took a lot of time, money, and effort. But we are officially on the ballot in North Texas (Dallas), Central Texas (Lockhart and Bastrop) and now South Texas (McAllen).
The McAllen victory clears the way for our Get Out The Vote operations in these three critical regions. Ground Game’s ballot measures create an opportunity to motivate thousands of additional voters who care about local progressive policy.

John, we had to gather over 5,000 signatures to qualify our McAllen ballot measure. This was unprecedented — there is no record of McAllen voters ever petitioning to amend their City Charter.
Our policy will create new campaign contribution limits for City officials. It will also allow McAllen voters to exercise new direct democracy powers — initiative, referendum, and recall. Together, this “anti-corruption, pro-democracy” policy is extremely popular (over 80% of respondents to a poll support the measure). Our goal is to restore faith in local government — and give people a reason to vote.
