FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - A town hall hosted by Americans for Prosperity-Indiana (AFP-IN) that featured U.S. Senator Mike Braun was held in Fort Wayne Thursday.

During the town hall, the speakers discussed economic policies put forth by the Biden Administration, and how the organization and U.S. Senator Mike Braun ‘continue to fight for everyday Hoosiers.'

Senator Braun spoke in Richmond at an event honoring fallen police officer Seara Burton by renaming a bridge in her memory.

FROM SENATOR BRAUN'S REMARKS:

The men and women of law enforcement risk their lives every minute of every day.

They never know when a situation will turn from unremarkable to unimaginable.

Yet every day they put on the uniform and put themselves on the line between chaos and our communities.

Officer Seara Burton was the best that Indiana had to offer.

She answered the call to serve her neighbors and did so honorably and selflessly.

There is nothing we can do to thank Officer Burton enough.

Generations of Hoosiers will pass by the sign bearing her name and know that Officer Burton lived a life worth commemorating.

“Listening to Hoosiers is the most important part of my job. Hearing from communities directly is the best way to understand the issues they’re facing daily and what I can do to help.”

Senator Braun welcomes drivers to the 2024 National Truck Driving Competition

FROM SENATOR BRAUN'S REMARKS:

Truck drivers' unique skills and abilities don't just make for a great competition -- they’re what powers the American economy.

Indiana is proud to be the Crossroads of America.

Our central location and extensive highway system provides an ideal location for a trucking hub.

Over 15,000 trucking companies are based in Indiana. Most of them are small businesses.

200,000 Hoosiers work in the trucking industry.

Our state and our country depends on truckers. It’s a huge reason why we became the strongest economy in the world.

The United States of America runs on 18 wheels!

While on the road listening to Hoosiers in state, Senator Braun is still looking out for your tax dollars in Washington.

A new audit showed that over $10 million from American taxpayers has ended up with the Taliban in Afghanistan, with a further $293 million that failed basic tests of accountability to make sure the funds aren't going to the terrorist organization.

Senator Braun called out the State Department for this failure and called on Secretary of State Blinken to freeze all aid going to Afghanistan until we are sure our money is not going to fund our terrorist enemies abroad.
