On Tuesday of this week, Governor Josh Green led Hawaii’s delegates at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago in pledging Hawaii’s support for Vice President Kamala Harris to become our next President.

Josh reminded the crowd of cheering delegates of Hawaii’s history of leadership on progressive issues like affordable healthcare, renewable energy, and women’s rights.

“America, thank you all for loving Hawaii,” Governor Green said. “The spirit of aloha means acting with love and kindness. Our Hawaii was the first state to legalize abortion. Our state was the first to ratify the ERA. Our state was the first to pass universal healthcare for all and target 100% renewable energy. Our state is the birthplace of Barack Obama. Our state shares the values of Kamala Harris. And we cast six votes present and 23 votes for Kamala Harris, the first woman president.”

In this year’s election, we can choose a future where the rights and freedoms of every American are protected and expanded — a future where every American can afford housing, has access to healthcare, and can send their kids to college.
