Friend,
Yesterday, at the Democratic National Convention, the widely read DC news website Punchbowl News held a day-long event complete with fine food, fancy drinks, members of Congress, and a battery of industry executives.
Who paid for this event? None other than ExxonMobil.
It would be shocking if it weren't so predictable. Either way, it's infuriating.
What are the chances that Punchbowl News or any other fossil fuel industry-funded news outlet is going to report accurately on how Big Oil is driving the climate emergency when ExxonMobil is funding its operations? Basically zero.
This is what corporate media corruption looks like, and it's why Common Dreams's independent, progressive journalism is so vital.
As the corporate news media is getting wined and dined by corporate polluters at the DNC, we're asking you to support our nonprofit newsroom by chipping in whatever you can afford — whether that's $5, $15, or $500.
There's a difference between journalism bought by greedy corporations and Common Dreams — and the difference is you.
