Hi John,
I am excited to share that *Tyler Florence, the celebrity ambassador for Perdue’s Petaluma Poultry, is* *cutting all ties with the company* ( [link removed] ) *after facing pressure from activists and the public.
*
As you may know, I, along with other investigators, have exposed horrific abuse and neglect at Petaluma Poultry facilities across Sonoma County, CA. We have documented:
* Debilitated chickens dying from starvation and dehydration
* Chickens being denied even basic medical care
* Evidence of chickens being boiled alive at the slaughterhouse
However, when I rescued four suffering chickens from their slaughterhouse, I was the one who was arrested. I am now facing over five years in prison.
Food Network host Tyler Florence has been the face of Petaluma Poultry for more than half a decade. He has done a number of promotions for one of their brands, Rosie the Organic Chicken, and has been serving their chicken in all of his restaurants. He was first disrupted in Sacramento in 2023. I told him about Petunia, a baby chicken I found stuck on her back with a bloody wing on a Petaluma Poultry factory farm. I was dragged out by security. Months later, activists began disrupting him across the country as he went on his book tour, including in San Francisco, New York City, and Atlanta. Activists disrupted one of his restaurants, Miller & Lux, and we protested outside of his home while he was hosting an expensive BBQ event. People from around the world also commented on his social media to request he cut ties.
Now, Tyler Florence has done the right thing and ended his relationship with Petaluma Poultry. A representative from The Florence Group told us that, “This action reflects Tyler’s ongoing commitment to exploring partnerships that align with his values and the betterment of the culinary community at large.”
I am grateful to Tyler Florence for making this decision. He has since been removed from the Petaluma Poultry website, where he used to be featured prominently. He will no longer do promotions for the company or serve their chicken in his restaurants. I hope that this decision by Tyler Florence and his restaurants will signal to the Sonoma County District Attorney's Office that people do not support the rampant animal abuse and neglect at Petaluma Poultry. I also hope that other people and entities that support Petaluma Poultry, like Trader Joe’s and Safeway, will follow his example.
Thank you so much to everyone who helped pressure Tyler Florence to cut ties with Petaluma Poultry. When we come together to fight for the animals, anything is possible.
Until every animal is free,
Zoe Rosenberg
P.S., on Monday night, the prosecutors in my case moved to dismiss the felony burglary charge they’d filed against me after my preliminary hearing because my attorneys raised concerns about its validity. This is the third time charges have been dropped in this case. The prosecutors are clearly struggling to figure out what to charge me with! *Learn more about why this happened and help us share the news* *here* ( [link removed] ) *.*
