John, The Contest Every Race team is at the center of the political world this week: the Democratic National Convention in Chicago!

Democrats of all stripes are coalesced and unified and ready to welcome our official nominees, Kamala Harris and Tim Walz, with an enthusiasm not seen since the Obama years, at least .

An incredibly strong ticket with crowds of supporters and onlookers wherever they go means we're creating big opportunities to flip traditionally red seats blue around the country. Many are targeted by national Republican groups or shady super PACs who are desperate to keep control of Congress and state legislatures.

But our top of the ticket – and our incredible down-ballot candidates – are the folks fighting to combat the climate crisis, make our cities more walkable and bikeable, save our reproductive freedoms, and create a better health care system for all.

We're making massive strides toward building the future we want to see in the United States, so it's crucial that we don't give up now.

Kamala Harris will be the first Black and first Indian woman to hold this office – she's tough, fair, and a staunch advocate for reproductive rights. Tim Walz is a down-home, common-sense progressive who's run and won in red and purple districts throughout his career. This is the ticket that can check off our progressive wishlist:

Tackle the affordable housing crisis
Keep elected officials and their families from profiting off stock market buys
Make the rich and big corporations pay their fair share in taxes
And push for justice and fairness in racial, environmental, and reproductive issues
