Dear friend, As you may know already, we’re expected to have more than normal levels of storms this hurricane season. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is forecasting 17 to 25 named storms during the Atlantic Hurricane Season. These storms could impact small Caribbean islands and communities who are already vulnerable to climate change. With so many communities and families facing heightened risk this season, emergency preparedness is more important than ever. That’s why we are reaching out to ask that you pitch in whatever you can to our Humanitarian Response Fund to help us reach our goal of $80,000 before the end of the month. Resilience hubs are local centers staffed by people trained in disaster preparedness and equipped with resources that help their communities in the event of a disaster. They are suited with solar energy, potable water storage, communication systems, and emergency kits. They contain pre-positioned life-saving supplies, medication, and basic necessities that are vital to effectively respond when emergencies occur. Thank you, The Mercy Corps team |
