Dear friend,

As you may know already, we’re expected to have more than normal levels of storms this hurricane season. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is forecasting 17 to 25 named storms during the Atlantic Hurricane Season. These storms could impact small Caribbean islands and communities who are already vulnerable to climate change.

With so many communities and families facing heightened risk this season, emergency preparedness is more important than ever. That’s why we are reaching out to ask that you pitch in whatever you can to our Humanitarian Response Fund to help us reach our goal of $80,000 before the end of the month.

Your gift will help Mercy Corps teams around the world prepare for when disasters strike — that includes building and stocking hurricane resilience hubs in communities to withstand the impacts of the storms and flash floods.

Resilience hubs are local centers staffed by people trained in disaster preparedness and equipped with resources that help their communities in the event of a disaster. They are suited with solar energy, potable water storage, communication systems, and emergency kits. They contain pre-positioned life-saving supplies, medication, and basic necessities that are vital to effectively respond when emergencies occur.
Your gift to the Humanitarian Relief Fund can help support critical work preparing communities to withstand natural disasters and other crises. To help us reach our $80,000 goal, please send your support now.

Thank you,

The Mercy Corps team
