John, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said that he would rather let states go bankrupt than give them the financial assistance they need to withstand the current health crisis.

As a former governor, I know this idea is short-sighted, cruel, and downright dangerous.

If we abandon the states as Leader McConnell recommends, it would exacerbate the economic distress we're already experiencing from the pandemic -- not just in individual states but across the entire country. It would also prevent states from being able to provide essential services-- whether it's paying for police, teachers, fire fighters or other public servants -- at a time when Americans are depending on them more than ever.

We need leaders who will act with the best interests of Americans in mind and my friend, Amy McGrath, is running for the Senate in Kentucky to step up and be the leader we need. If you can, please split a contribution between her campaign and mine today.

McConnell has chosen to give tax handouts to corporations instead of giving support to those who need it the most.

He's refused to take up hundreds of pieces of important legislation in the Senate that address everything from combating climate change to making health care more affordable.

And now, he'd rather let states struggle during a public health crisis than taking action to help them.

As a Marine Corps veteran, Amy has dedicated her life to serving her country, and John, she's prepared to do it again in the Senate. If you can, split a contribution between her campaign and mine before the end-of-month deadline this week.

Thank you,

Tom
