Access to Guam
One of the most open people at a somewhat closed convention

CHICAGO – Last night, I saw Stevie Wonder, Oprah Winfrey, and the Mankato West High School 1999 state champions. But the real hero of the night for me was Lou Leon Guerrero, the governor of Guam. I first talked to her on Tuesday, when I found myself in the Guam delegation and asked the first person I saw how they were enjoying the convention, and it was the governor. I saw her again on Wednesday, and we had a fascinating conversation about potential statehood and the legal issues.

Stay tuned for that. What I did write about yesterday were all the parts of the convention shielded off from the public and the press. Harold Meyerson recapped the absolute norminess of the vice-presidential nominee, Tim Walz. Emma Janssen reflected on the theme of motherhood reflected in the convention speeches. And David Dayen took in the Hotties for Harris party, an opulent affair for influencers and "creators" that he only belatedly realized was underwritten by billionaire Reid Hoffman.
TODAY’S AGENDA

As of late last night, a sit-in of around 30 delegates inside the security perimeter of the United Center was going on, in protest of the lack of a Palestinian speaker at the convention. We’ll be looking at how that resolves, and obviously the convention speech of the presidential nominee, Kamala Harris.
Join us LIVE from Chicago on YouTube this Friday for our Weekly Roundup! Tune in as our staff reports on what theyre seeing and hearing from the convention floor.
