The Colorado State Republican Party Officially Calls House District 50 one of its most critical races for Republicans in 2024;

The District 
House District 50 is consumed by Weld County, with the largest city being Greeley. The district also includes Garden City and Evans, Colorado. Ryan Gonzalez, a strong conservative candidate, lost HD-50 in 2022 to incumbent Democrat Mary Young by less than 400 votes. Gonzalez is valiantly taking on Mary Young again in 2024, so this district is winnable!

The Democrat 
Mary Young is a radical voter who continuously asks taxpayers to fund her progressive programs, without any regard for the struggles of hard-working Colorado families. Her reckless and out of touch spending is evident in a a bill she sponsored in 2024: SB24-012- Reentry Workforce Development Cash Assistance Pilot Program.” Young feels it is her duty to strip hard-working taxpayers of $3000 for each prisoner/inmate who is released from custody and needs cash. Prioritizing criminals over everyday Coloradans is a tenant of the Democrat party in 2024. For 2024-2026 alone, this radical measure would have cost taxpayers at least $23 million. 

Mary Young also sponsored and passed HB23B-1002: Increased Earned Income Tax Credit,” Mary stated on the House floor, “Expanding our EITC is likely to boost first-time claimancy, drawing down more federal money to be spent in every part of the state.” She just cannot help herself; Young spends other people’s money like a college student at a bar with their dad’s credit card. And why not? Taxpayers will continue footing the bill. This bill cost $180 million from the Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights surplus.

Mary Young also voted for every far left progressive bill that has passed her desk. She voted YES on the Safe Spaces Gun Law, as well as HB24-1039, the law to force teachers to use transgender pronouns for their students. Young does not respect parental rights or Constitutional rights. It’s time to kick Mary Young to the curb and elect Ryan Gonzalez. 


 

Ryan was born to Mexican immigrants who came to America for better opportunity, freedom and liberty. Ryan’s mother Rosa taught him morals, principles, and a work ethic that led him to become the first member of his family to graduate from both high school and college.

As a single, Latino man hoping to someday buy a house and settle down with a family, Ryan has recognized the struggles and the roadblocks put in place by the current administration in Colorado, which has led to rising inflation, increased crime, and a loss of values and civil liberties. 

Crime rates in Colorado are unacceptable. Democrats, including Ryan’s opponent, continue to pass legislation that makes it easier for criminals to escape punishment for their crimes. For example, Attorney General Phil Weiser stated that thieves should “probably go to jail if they are averaging one car theft per month, and only then after the third or fourth car is stolen.” At the same time, car insurance companies like Progressive stopped issuing new auto insurance contracts on many Kia and Hyundai models in Colorado because so many of those models are now stolen in the state. The radical left legislature has also decreased penalties and bond conditions for suspects accused of various crimes and has encouraged, with the help of progressive DA’s, the early release of convicted criminals  

It’s time for this to stop. Ryan Gonzalez tells voters, “I promise to work with my colleagues to tighten up on crime in Colorado and give law enforcement the tools they need to keep Colorado safe.”

After nearly defeating his opponent in 2022, Gonzalez is reenergized and ready to fight again to help restore Colorado to the once great state it was. The 2022 race proved that HD 50 residents desire new leadership. His opponent won with just 49 percent of the vote. It was the closest House race in Colorado. Just 330 votes separated Ryan from his opponent.
