"Tragically, many older and disabled people already feel they are a burden. It will be impossible to quantify the soft societal pressure once the principle of state-sanctioned suicide has been established."
People with Disabilities At Risk of Assisted Suicide
"Rather than legalising the suicides of disabled people, we argue that the only safe way forward is better investment in palliative care and a commitment to improving the things that people often cite when they apply to die in other parts of the world, such as a lack of dignity and feeling like a burden."
Palliative Care Necessary To Combat Assisted Suicide
"Palliative care must stay open-minded and integrative as well as contemporary to show alternative routes of living a life to its dignified end despite being severely disabled."
"End Assisted Suicide" is the group of plaintiffs suing the state of California to overturn the Assisted Suicide law there. Our 501(c)(3) sister organization, the Institute for Patients' Rights, has joined this ground-breaking lawsuit as a plaintiff.
We've appealed our case to the 9th Circuit. Click below to learn more about this lawsuit.
