John, I am particularly looking forward to the Democratic National Convention programming today for one specific reason:

Today, we get to hear from a 20-year social studies teacher who is on the ballot to become the next Vice President of the United States — Tim Walz.

I was elated when Vice President Harris announced her selection. Governor Walz truly had me at “social studies teacher.”

But just as important as his experience as a teacher, a coach, and a Guardsman has been what he has been able to get done as governor of his state that we are advocating for in Congress.

Feeding our children at school. Protecting LGBTQIA+ youth. Making Minnesota the first state to codify abortion rights in the aftermath of the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade . Paid family, medical, and sick leave. Gun safety legislation.

We can make this future for our communities nationwide if we all do our part for the next 11 weeks from now to Election Day.
