This week, Democrats are gathered in Chicago to kick off the Democratic National Convention.
With Vice President Kamala Harris and Gov. Tim Walz now at the top of the ticket, Democrats are fired up and ready to defeat Donald Trump and his MAGA allies.
Unlike Trump’s convention a few weeks ago that featured the longest-ever acceptance speech clocking in at 92 minutes, a weird Kid Rock performance, and just a stream of outright lies, we’ve already had a week focused on hope, unity, and democracy.
Because that’s what the Democratic party is about: looking forward. And as VP Harris would say, “we’re not going back.”
This is an exciting week, but it doesn’t change the fact that the GOP is doubling down on its efforts to disrupt the democratic process this November.
In fact, the Georgia State Election Board just gave local officials the authority to refuse to certify election results.
It’s clear our democracy is facing unprecedented risk – and Democratic Secretaries of State are our best line of defense against MAGA attempts to subvert the rule of law.
