James,
I want to tell you a quick story about why I became a doctor – and why I urgently need your help to win this race. [link removed]
I grew up in a working class family, and like many Wisconsin families, we didn’t always have it easy. My mom worked her way up from a minimum wage job. My dad struggled with substance abuse and died at just forty years old.
I always knew I wanted to give back to my community, and in college, I realized I wanted to do so by going into health care and becoming a doctor. I knew it wasn’t going to be easy – but like many hard things, it would be worth it.
So I went to medical school. Here’s a picture of me in the hospital from back in residency:
That’s not my opponent’s story. He lobbied to raise gas prices – a move that would put money in the pockets of his own wealthy and well-connected friends at the expense of Wisconsin families. I know that particular cost all too well – I regularly make an hours-long drive to practice medicine.
He’s not going to bed worried about gas prices, or about how he’ll pay for groceries and rent or a mortgage. But he does have a slew of right-wing special interests ready to back his campaign to rig the rules against families like ours.
In Congress, I intend to fight for families like the one I grew up in, and the one I’ve raised my four sons in. But special interests already came in for my opponent with outside spending, and they’re sure to do the same this fall – we’re playing catch-up to make sure we have the resources to stay competitive.
Our campaign relies on grassroots donations from people like you. Will you pitch in now so we can reach as many voters as possible between now and Election Day?
