It’s no secret that our country and our economy have suffered tremendously over the last three and a half years. 

As you and your family know all too well, basic goods and groceries cost more, utility bills are through the roof, and savings are shrinking. But pesky price hikes that have impacted everything from holidays to back-to-school shopping didn’t appear out of thin air.

From the costly “American Rescue Plan” to the so-called “Inflation Reduction Act,” the Biden-Harris Administration recklessly pumped trillions of dollars into the economy — igniting and fueling the inflationary fire. Despite all warning signs, President Biden and Washington Democrats shamelessly ran the strong economy they inherited from President Trump into the ground. 

Why? To fund and achieve their Big Government Socialist agenda.

While we often label these failed economic policies as “Bidenomics,” it’s important to remember that Kamala Harris owns every bit of this mess. In fact, she cast the tie-breaking vote when these pricey packages were stalled in the 50-50 Senate!

Given the disastrous outcome of her decisive votes, you’d think Vice President Kamala Harris would learn her lesson. But instead of distancing herself from the Biden-Harris Administration’s abysmal track record, she’s doubling down on their radical policies.

Last week, Kamala Harris’ economic illiteracy was on full display when she announced her economic policy proposal. Her plan includes instituting a “federal ban on price gouging on food and groceries” in an attempt to stop “big corporations” from taking advantage of consumers. 

Folks, if you think inflation is bad now, just imagine how much worse it will become under Kamala’s Soviet-style price controls. Our country doesn’t need bread lines, food shortages, or higher prices. 

Moreover, it’s completely disingenuous to blame the food industry for causing sticker shock at the grocery store. It’s the policies of the Biden-Harris Administration that are responsible for the raging inflation crisis — not “corporate greed.” Notably, the White House has played this game before, blaming both large corporations and Vladimir Putin for 40-year high inflation. Yet Americans didn’t buy what Joe Biden was selling then — and they certainly aren’t buying what Kamala Harris is selling now.

Bottom line, America can’t afford or survive Comrade Kamala’s radical policies. Instead, Washington must significantly reduce government spending and implement pro-growth policies in order to make our economy strong, healthy, and prosperous again.

As you know all too well, the Peach State has faced major issues following the U.S. Postal Service’s (USPS) transition of local Processing & Distribution Centers across North Georgia to the new Regional Processing & Distribution Center in Palmetto. Folks throughout the Ninth have shared stories of the very late notification of bills, loss of revenue, immense frustration, and hardship these USPS delays are causing them, their loved ones, and their small businesses. While the Postal Service has improved mail delivery services since the height of its performance failures earlier this year, many Georgians are still facing headaches. Moreover, the agency’s lack of transparency surrounding the disastrous operation raises serious concerns for folks here and across the country.

In response, I recently led the entire Georgia Congressional Delegation in sending a letter to USPS Postmaster General Louis DeJoy demanding that he immediately fulfill his legal obligation to seek an advisory opinion from the Postal Regulatory Commission (PRC) for the agency’s recent consolidation process. Notably, the Postal Service must request an advisory opinion from the PRC for any changes impacting postal services on a nationwide or substantially nationwide basis — which undoubtedly includes the consolidation process here in Georgia. Therefore, the current strained mail delivery situation was entirely preventable. After all, the advisory opinion process was established by Congress to prevent such extensive nationwide service failures from ever occurring.

Bottom line, the Postal Service’s continued ignorance of the legally required advisory opinion process is inexcusable. Please know that my office and I will continue seeking answers and accountability in our effort to ensure you and your family receive the efficient and effective mail delivery operations that you deserve.

Last week, I had the privilege to tour Plant Vogtle in Waynesboro, Georgia. As you may know, Units 3 and 4 recently entered commercial operation, becoming the first newly constructed nuclear reactors to be built in the United States in over 30 years. Undoubtedly, Plant Vogtle’s progress represents an exciting and historic achievement for the Peach State. I thoroughly enjoyed learning more about the facility’s operations, safety measures, and power generating capabilities. Additionally, I was thrilled to know that our own Jackson EMC is part owner of this remarkable operation and receives additional power from Plant Vogtle’s two new reactors. 

I applaud Plant Vogtle for its commitment to deliver safe, reliable, and clean energy to residents and businesses across our great state, and I look forward to this historic, long-term investment improving the lives of millions of Georgians for decades to come.
