Together, Florida Rising made the difference. Over 100 volunteers did the work:
- We helped 25,000 Floridians register to vote
-
Knocked on over 13,000 doors
- Made 24,000 calls
- And spoke directly with
2,700 voters!
Last night we saw Justice on Every Block candidates endorsed by Florida Rising win and set up momentum for more victories in November.
In many ways defeating the Moms for Liberty extremists last night saved public education in the nation’s third largest state. Congratulations to Florida Rising endorsed School Board candidates, Luísa Santos (Dade), Stephanie Vanos (Orange), Jessica Vaughn (Hillsborough), Nadia Combs (Hillsborough), Laura Hine (Pinellas), Eileen Long (Pinellas).
- In Miami-Dade County, we re-elected Mayor Daniella Levine Cava with almost 60 percent of the vote. Rep. Ashley Gantt won Florida House 109.
-
In Hillsborough County, the Honorable Andrew Warren who was wrongfully taken out of office by DeSantis advanced to the general election in his race for State Attorney.
-
In Duval County, Rep. Angie Nixon and Sen. Tracie Davis defeated right wing funded challengers and moved forward to the general election for Florida House and Senate.
-
In Broward County, Rep. Daryl Campbell won Florida House 99.
-
In Orange County, Sen. Geraldine Thompson and Rep. Jennifer “Rita” Harris both won their races.
It wasn't solely about the wins – last night was a loud rejection of the hateful rhetoric and divisive politics. Hand-picked cronies of Governor Ron DeSantis were defeated by overwhelming margins. We are organizing Floridians to reverse DeSantis’ toxic agenda and recognize his racist and pro-billionaire policies for what they are.
Florida is not a red state; it is a state of hope, forward-thinking progress and the coalition we are building together represents the new majority.
We are building political power and addressing the attacks against our Black, Brown, immigrant and LGBTQIA+ communities head on.
From now until November, we aim to register thousands more voters, knock on 500,000 doors alongside our Florida for All partners, and bring housing, climate, ending the criminalization of our communities, and protecting our bodies to the forefront through our issue-based campaigns and through Amendments 3 and 4 on the ballot.
