I’m here in Chicago at the Democratic National Convention, where our party is coming together from across the country to celebrate Kamala Harris and Tim Walz.

I’m psyched about our incredible Democratic ticket. I used to play a Vice President on TV, but Kamala has shown what a real Vice President can do. She’s delivered time and time again in office, from leading the fight for reproductive rights to defending our right to vote.

It’s so important to defeat Donald Trump this November and I know Kamala and Tim are putting in the work to win. But the White House isn’t the only thing that’s on the line this election.

Democratic governors are on the front lines in the states defending democracy and working to achieve progress. They’re shattering marble ceilings, showing what good leadership and good governance looks like, and getting big things done.

It’s one of the reasons I am so excited to be hosting a panel during the DNC convention featuring the country’s Democratic women governors. Throughout their time in office, Democratic women governors have made history, changed the conversation surrounding women in executive roles, and gotten big things done for the people of their states.

Meanwhile, in states where right wing Republicans hold power, they’re banning abortion, polluting our environment, and taking away rights and freedoms.

And the GOP is doubling down on their extreme behavior. They’re nominating candidates like Mark Robinson in North Carolina, who has said abortion only happens because women “weren’t responsible enough to keep your skirt down.”

We can’t let people like Donald Trump, JD Vance, and Mark Robinson win in November. And that’s where grassroots supporters like you can make a decisive difference.
