Last night’s primetime speeches from Barack and Michelle Obama reminded us of something crucial: there was a time when American politics didn’t feel so awful, and, more importantly, we have the power to bring that time back.
Michelle’s declaration that “hope is making a comeback” and Barack’s call to embrace Lincoln’s “better angels of our nature” were unifying and optimistic—a stark contrast to the dark age of division Donald Trump ushered in when he descended that escalator in 2015 and took over American politics.

8 years later, the media hasn't changed very much. They still give Trump’s every tantrum and lie the wall-to-wall coverage he craves. And they spend more time trying to maximize profits by playing “both sides” than they do calling out Trump’s blatant authoritarian tactics or covering issues that actually impact the lives of voters.
