Too often, our seniors are overlooked in the public policy process. Their needs, and voices , are not centered in the conversation.

From providing affordable housing and accessible transportation to ensuring top quality medical services and Social Security, the priorities we’ve laid out on the Board exemplify the kind of work I set out to achieve from day one: Investing in our People.

That’s why I’m proud that just a few months ago, the County opened the Levant Senior Cottages in Linda Vista!

Seniors are the fastest growing demographic of unhoused people and we have a moral obligation to alleviate their housing burden. But the work doesn’t stop there.

I’m a firm believer that a society should be judged by how it treats its most vulnerable members.

Our senior citizens have worked their entire lives and they deserve to retire with dignity. That means it’s on us to bridge any gaps in our County’s services.

The Levant Senior Cottages will prove affordable housing to over 127 of our seniors. That’s a long overdue step in the right direction — but it’s just the beginning.

Like many of you, the elders in my community raised me, and I owe it to them to make sure they are cared for.
